After months of speculation and a week-long teasing campaign, OnePlus has officially unveiled the OnePlus Nord CE 2, the next edition to their core family of smartphones. Let’s take a look at the smartphone’s specs and features, which provide significant improvements over its predecessor at an intriguing price range.
Ideation and Display
The OnePlus Nord CE 2 has a design that is quite identical to the Nord CE, with the exception of the camera hump. The OPPO Find X3 Pro has a noticeable effect on the camera module design this time. The volume rocker is on the left, and the power button is on the right, on the Nord CE 2. It also appears to be missing the OnePlus alert slider, just like its predecessor. With a thickness of just 7.8 mm, the phone is also the thinnest OnePlus smartphone since the OnePlus 6T.
It has slim bezzles on three sides and a large chin on the bottom on the front. A 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED HDR10+ certified display with a 90Hz refresh rate is included with the gadget. The front camera is housed in a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner of the display.
Cameras
The smartphone has a triple camera system with a 64MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro lens for photography. The primary 64MP sensor features a wide f/1.7 aperture, allowing it to capture beautiful photographs even in low light.
When it comes to low-light imagery, the Nord CE 2 has Nightscape support, which shoots up to nine separate photographs at different exposures and intelligently weaves them together to generate sharper, brighter, and more spectacular photos.
The Nord CE 2 features Portrait Mode 2.0, which improves on its predecessor by providing more accurate edge recognition and the option to modify the level of software-generated depth of focus while photographing a subject for greater creative flexibility. The device’s primary camera as well as the front camera both support the new Portrait mode.
But the camera’s enhancements do not even end there: low-light video capture receives a boost as well. Improved AI backdrop lighting and colour tuning on the Nord CE 2 improves video quality when filming in low light and unevenly illuminated environments. In addition, the phone has a unique feature called Dual-View Video, which allows you to film with both the front and rear cameras at the same time.
Efficiency
The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC with built-in 5G and WiFi 6 modems. The SoC has been optimised for power efficiency, resulting in enhanced thermals and system stability, making it excellent for gaming.
The gadget comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can be upgraded by another 1TB through a TF card. The charging capabilities of this device are a significant upgrade over the previous-generation Nord CE. The Nord CE 2 can be charged from 20% to 75% in 15 minutes utilising the 65W SUPERVOOC rapid charging system, and from 1% to 100% in 32 minutes, according to the firm.
OxygenOS 11.3, which includes an improved dark mode, new one-handed usage features, and more, is pre-installed on the OnePlus Nord CE 2. In the second half of 2022, OxygenOS 12 will be released for the smartphone. The OnePlus Nord CE 2 will receive two years of Android upgrades and three years of Android security fixes in total.
A 3.5mm headphone jack, two SIM card slots, and a dedicated MicroSD card slot are among the device’s other features.
Pricing and Colors & Availability
Gray Mirror and Bahama Blue are the two colours available for the OnePlus Nord CE 2. Grey Mirror has a mirror-like finish with dazzling overtones that looks like polished metal, while Bahama Blue has a gradient finish that creates stunning blue and yellow colour changes.
