The tech world observes with interest as the HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition makes its official debut in the UK market. This specialized variant of the HMD 2660 Flip, initially unveiled at MWC Barcelona in March 2025, distinguishes itself with the integration of an innovative built-in AI companion named Mary. For mobile enthusiasts, this launch signals a unique convergence of classic hardware and cutting-edge artificial intelligence, particularly focused on enhancing accessibility.
HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition: A Closer Look at its Tech Foundation
Underneath its classic flip-phone exterior, the HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition is engineered with functional specifications designed for reliability. It boasts a 2.8-inch QVGA main display complemented by a 1.77-inch QQVGA external screen. Powering the experience is the Unisoc T107 processor, paired with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage—configurations optimized for its S30+ operating system. A modest 0.3MP camera is also integrated.
Connectivity and user convenience are prioritized, featuring a 1,450mAh removable battery rechargeable via USB-C—a modern touch for a feature phone. It supports Bluetooth 5.0, includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, and offers an FM radio experience that functions both with and without wired headphones. Further utility comes from an integrated MP3 player, dual microphones for clearer audio, a single speaker, and a Nano SIM slot. Notably, its IP54 rating ensures a degree of dust and splash resistance, enhancing its durability for daily use.
The standout feature for tech enthusiasts is undoubtedly the integrated AI companion, ‘Mary.’ Developed by a company specializing in AI call services for older adults, Mary represents a significant step in accessible technology. The device facilitates easy interaction with this AI, presenting an ‘inTouch’ prompt to connect users directly with the companion for assistance or engagement. This integration pushes the boundaries of what’s expected from a traditional feature phone, blending simplicity with intelligent support.
The HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition is currently available in the United Kingdom, priced at £79.99. However, the advanced functionality of the AI companion comes with a separate monthly subscription of £16.90, a factor that mobile consumers will weigh when considering the long-term value of this specialized device.
